Under the hovering clouds of Sydney's CBD, our guest huddled into the arms of Bligh Hotel for an interesting and curious evening to come.
The men drifted in early or on time as our women ran fashionably late, accompanied by friends and champagne to comfort their jittering nerves!
As the guests steadily arrived, the aim of the game began. Armed with pen and paper, each man and woman casually worked the room to fill their form.
Now what is a Pen and Paper Party? Well, each guest is given a list of questions, they aim to fill the list with the name of a member of the opposite sex. For example, if you're a guy and question one is Find someone who has travelled to Paris, you work the room, meeting and greeting women, whilst finding individuals to answer your question!
True, one needs to multi-task, which is always a challenge for men! However, with his investment banking efficiency Jason Yin managed to complete the form within 8 minutes by finding exceptional women whom were pretty much able to answer every question!
In the fairness of our event, we thought it best to gather all completed forms and draw our weekend away prize as a raffle...as the guest continued to work their way through the room, we surveyed with bated breath the possible matches which might be made!
Now according to statistics, Sydney is in a serious man drought! Yes men! For every 100 men, there are 105 women!
Also, let's not forget the many sexuality choices available in the vibrant lights of our city! How does one combat such odds?
Flock to the social events I say...it's the best place to find people of a similar mind and matter in the same situation. Actually, I organised a speed dating event almost 2 years ago, and a couple who met at that event are still together – it does happen!
As hard as it was, I found a few people willing to spill the beans on their possible post event rendezvous. However, their shyness and privacy prevents me informing you who they are!
The many men who approached me to say thank you for a good evening – remember to email, call, or text a woman when you say you will! We hate it when you guys neglect this common courtesy!
Congratulations to the winner of our weekend at Mantra Resort Ettalong Beach, Steven Mong. I am sure Steve will be able to put this romantic weekend to good use!
